In 1971 David Bowie released the song Changes. We are not David Bowie fans, nor do we subscribe to the messages of the song (mostly about moving away from the rock music revolution), but as we reflect on the week, the title and way it is sung seems to be reflective of the week. The … Continue reading Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
Together in Ghana
Light
There is only one word to describe this week and it is LIGHT. Two significant events encompassed most of the week with a few other less significant, but still very important events filling the rest. The first event was the mission leader seminar in Accra with all of the mission leaders in the Africa West … Continue reading Light
Kwanwoma
On Sunday we attended the new Kwanwoma Group. This is a group that was started with the help of Elder Yancey and Elder Binene a few months back. It is part of the University Stake where Prosper Mensah is the most amazing Stake President in all of Ghana (perhaps the world!). Generally we would travel … Continue reading Kwanwoma
The Gathering of Israel
On June 3, 2018, President Russell M. Nelson and his wife, Wendy W. Nelson, invited the youth to “enlist in the youth battalion of the Lord” and take part in “the greatest challenge, the greatest cause, and the greatest work on earth.” And what is the greatest challenge? The gathering of Israel. “My dear extraordinary youth, you were … Continue reading The Gathering of Israel
The Winds of Change
Last Friday, while at the Mission Office, a storm came up suddenly and the winds began to blow, kicking up dust and eventually bringing in the rain. It was a foreshadowing of the changes occurring in the mission. https://videopress.com/v/wxFQ2ua9?resizeToParent=true&cover=true&preloadContent=metadata The winds of change are blowing! The first change was minor and was associated with our … Continue reading The Winds of Change
An Outward Token
While most of the Christian world understands the rainbow as a sign between God and Noah that "neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth" (Gen 9:11), we have additional insight about this outward token from … Continue reading An Outward Token
For the Beauty of the Earth
This was interview week for us. We traveled to Sefwi Bekwai and Sefwi Waiwso, Bibiani, Asouyeboa, Mpraeso, Nkawkaw, Konongo and Bantama. Sefwi Waiwso is the furtherest southwest corner of the mission and Mpraeso is the furtherest eastern point in the mission. It is about 65 miles from the mission home to both of these locations. … Continue reading For the Beauty of the Earth
Coming Together
A once in a mission experience happened this week when the entire mission gathered to hear from Elder and Sister Klebingat, 2nd counselor in the Area Presidency and a General Authority. Every single one of our 153 missionaries, including senior couples. It was a wonderful meeting. Elder Klebingat spoke extensively about the premortal existence, the … Continue reading Coming Together
The Bread of Life
Another busy but rewarding week has slipped by and finding time to write about it is proving challenging. It was our third transfer week and like all transfer weeks it was filled with missionaries coming and going. Since last week was about water, it seemed only proper that this week should be about bread. Perhaps … Continue reading The Bread of Life
The Water of Life
The Waters of Life On Monday evening we left the house around 3:30 pm to meet Elder Nsungi and Elder Akpan to go over and visit Lazarus and Amelia and their two children. This is a family they have been working with for some time now. Their oldest daughter Treasure has been baptized, but the parents are … Continue reading The Water of Life
